about

Today [29th September 2021] UK techno innovator Planetary Assault Systems (A.K.A Luke Slater) shares his heavy-hitting and tripped out, warehouse ready take on Copenhagen’s club music queen, Anastasia Kristensen’s recent sassy stomper, ‘Volshebno’. A chunky, bleepy reimagination of the original, this fourth and final offering from the huge remix package for Anastasia’s latest Volshebno EP comes following previous reworks from Galway partystarter, KETTAMA, Danish techno titan, Ctrls, and Brooklyn’s ballroom darling, quest?onmarq. With the three previous remixes dropping prior to the announce of Volshebno, the mysterious build up nodded towards something special from Anastasia, with remixes building anticipation for the full EP, while also garnering support from the likes of DJ Mag, Electronic Beats, Dummy, Crack, Mary Anne Hobbs on 6 Music.

On the remix, Planetary Assault Systems (A.K.A Luke Slater) says,

“I think Ana has a very distinct way she puts tracks together, very much her own, which I really like so looked forward to remixing this one, it’s got a great hook, wanted to keep it very much alive and kicking with energy!”

Having spent the last few years continuing to hone her craft and refining her signature sound - electrifying heavy-hitting club music - this is is Anastasia’s first EP since 2019, following acclaimed releases Maxima (Houndstooth, 2019) and Ascetic (Arcola, 2019). Bursting with colourful, raucous energy, nodding to both her native city Copenhagen’s trance and techno scene and her love for UK jungle, breaks and hardcore, Volshebno EP is playful, mesmeric and enigmatic, with support from Crack Magazine, Resident Advisor, Electronic Beats, The Quietus, Groove, and more.

On the EP, Anastasia says,

Volshebno means “Magical” in Russian. The EP turned out to have a playful and melodic narrative, and it’s about those very first and initial feelings, like - when you have a brilliant new idea or realising you’re developing a new crush on someone.

The recent EP also dropped with a captivating, up-close and personal video for single, ‘Volshebno Stretched’. The sentimental video, premiered via Resident Advisor, is a beautifully shot portrayal of human experiences, with crystal clear, super high definition shots of four Danish natives - thoughtfully cast by and including Ana herself - free to explore and express their emotions.
